DON'T LIMIT YOUR CHALLENGES - - CHALLENGE YOUR LIMITS!!

WHAT is Adventure Camp?

Adventure Camp is a therapeutic camp especially designed to aid students in building self-esteem and relationship skills, developed by a psychotherapist and former school counselor who dealt with  poor motivation, low self-esteem, and bullying issues on a daily basis at school. Participants will engage in  purpose-driven, wildly fun games designed to escalate learning though immense amounts of zany fun and laughter. While experiencing the fun and challenge of the games, students will learn new things about themselves - opening their eyes to the wondrous creation they are as individuals. Because the games are performed in a group format, teamwork and leadership skills will also be reinforced. Learning skills for LIFE!

In addition to the game format, students will process their experiences in small groups with a licensed psychotherapist, in order to help them learn how to transfer what they learn to their everyday social interactions. Our goal is to help students be more comfortable with themselves as individuals, as well as learn new ways to interact with peers.

Adventure Camp is fun, absolutely, but it is serious business as well. Self-esteem is very important and can affect many aspects of one's life - as children, as adolescents, and even as adults. Our purpose is to impact  young lives by planting seeds of encouragement and exploring new perspectives. Be assured that even though the delivery of the learning component is fun, the purpose behind it is very intentional and goal directed.

WHY Adventure Camp?

The need for acceptance and belonging is a basic need for every human being, but in adolescence, this is especially true. Adventure Camp is a program to address bullying, self-esteem, and self-worth. Bullying is a problem in our schools, but even with all the attention it gets, it just doesn't seem to go away. Unfortunately, it is not only a problem in our schools, it has become part of our culture. Look at popular television shows today and notice how many of them encourage drama, disrespect, alliances, gossip, and using others to get ahead.

Bullying is seriously affecting our kids - their self-esteem, self worth, and even their academic progress. Adventure Camp is different from other bullying programs, mostly because IT IS FUN! so is more appealing to kids. Adventure Camp targets those who have been victimized, but can be equally effective for both those that have been bullied and those that bullly. Many bullies have been bullied themselves anyway. Adventure Camp uses games and fun to open up minds to gain new perspective, and learn more effective ways of relating to others. The games and techniques used come from Adventure Learning - a model of experiential learning, or learning by experiencing or doing, through the use of games and group activities. It puts individuals on an even playing field, challenging them to support and encourage each other. All while having LOADS of FUN and LAUGHTER!
