Adventure Camp, located in Roanoke TX,  is 3 days of exhilarating activities custom designed by a certified Challenge Course Facilitator, a specialist in Adventure programs. In addition to POWER packed experiential activities, students will participate in therapeutic groups facilitated by a Licensed Professional Counselor to process how to cope with bullying, both past and present, and what strategies can be used if it happens again.

Bullying is a major problem in our society, and seems to be escalating. It is a terrible problem in our schools, but bullying occurs in the workplace as well. Bullying, and being ostracized by peers, can have long term effects on an individual. Adventure Camp was designed specifically with this in mind. The activities are created to target and build self-esteem and self-worth by learning from experience how one 'fits' into a group, and discovering the innate strengths, and weaknesses, of the individual. The activities range from fun get-to-know-you games to challenging problem solving activities with a team, all designed with fun and purpose in mind. The goal of Adventure Camp is to instill confidence and skills that will last a lifetime.

Adventure Camp is a collaboration between NewStarts Counseling & Education Services and Group Dynamix of Carrollton. The therapist who will conduct the therapeutic groups is the Director of NewStarts, Tina Johnston, a Licensed Professional Counselor who has worked with hundreds of children of all ages. As a former school counselor, Ms. Johnston is particularly aware of the challenges kids face at school on a daily basis, including bullying. Adventure activities are designed by a certified Challenge Course Facilitator at Group Dynamix, who is a specialist in creating and facilitating all types of Adventure programs. Therapy and Adventure come together to give your child an intense 3 days of building self-esteem, practicing leadership and teamwork, improving communication, and overcoming challenges. 

The dates for the camps are:
June 14-16   3rd & 4th grade
June 22-24   5th & 6th grade
July 13-15     7th & 8th grade
Times: 9:00 a.m. -  4:00 a.m.

The cost for each camp is $375, plus a $25 supply fee.

Children will need to bring sunscreen and a sack lunch of their choice, wear tennis shoes and very comfortable clothes. Snacks and plenty of water will be provided throughout the day.
